What is an Alliance Church?

Our congregation is a member of the Christian and Missionary Alliance, which is an evangelical denomination especially focusing on overseas missions. It exists in 84 countries and has been in existence since 1887.

Is First Alliance a relatively new congregation?

In 2005 the church celebrated its 50th anniversary as a local church in Toccoa.

What ministries is the Alliance Church especially noted for?

Overseas missions has been our passion since our inception, but Toccoa Alliance Church is also know for its AWANA program for children, the Recovery program for people with hang-ups, and a large youth ministry.

Is First Alliance a mega church?

While we are larger than average, we are not a mega church. Our combined attendance for Sunday morning worship services averaged 550 in 2005.

Are we related to Toccoa Falls College?

TFC is an affiliated college of the Christian and Missionary Alliance, but the church has no formal relationship with the college. Faculty, staff and students from the college do make up a part of our church family.

Do you have a mid-week service?

On Wednesday nights our congregation has more specialized ministries: AWANA for children, youth groups, choir, adult prayer service, women’s Bible study and Spanish ministries.

What kind of Small Group Ministry do you have?

House groups meet weekly on almost every day of the week. House groups have 8-12 people and meet around a study of God’s word, prayer and fellowship.

Does First Alliance church participate in Evangelism Explosion?

Yes, we do train people in evangelism skills by E.E. Evangelism teams go on visitation weekly to share the Gospel.

Is Recovery your only healing ministry?

In addition to Recovery, we offer a support group for those with Bi-polar and depression difficulties. Both groups meet weekly on Monday nights. We also have a special prayer group, which meets during the Wednesday evening prayer service. This group specifically prays for physical and spiritual healing. A divorce care support group is usually available.

What kind of people attend First Alliance?

The largest age group is between 30-60 years of age, but we have a thriving youth ministry and seniors ministry.

Who can become a member of First Alliance Church?

Our primary requirement for membership is that people are truly born again by having put their trust in Jesus Christ alone for their eternal salvation.

Do you offer a traditional or contemporary worship service?

We describe our worship as blended using both modern choruses and hymns. You will find our worship alive and sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit.
